Gordon has been called to help save the iconic willow tree in Wolverley village. Lately the tree has been showing signs of movement under the weight of its magnificent canopy.
The willow tree has been a focal point of Wolverley village for generations.
Local residents approached Gordon to intervene to save the tree earlier in the year as he had previously provided funds to maintain it in 2013.
“I had the tree examined by the Wyre Forest District Council’s arboricultural officer in late August.
It is clear that the tree is under acute stress and action needs to be taken immediately “.
“While various options were discussed to save the willow, it is decided that the tree should be pollarded to reduce the weight of the canopy and this will take place after I have agreement from the Parish Council”, says Gordon.
Gordon has agreed to provide funds for the necessary work from his divisional funding as he did three years ago.
The tree will be closely monitored to keep watch on its longer term health.
