“I have reported 19 cases cases of fly tipping in my County Division. The problem is especially bad in Trimpley and Wribbenhall. Yet the District Council has failed to mount a single prosecution. This is despite a huge investment in surveillance equipment”, says Gordon.
During last summer Gordon warned the District Council there had been an upsurge in fly tipping around Trimpley and Wribbenhall. He pointed out that much of it is trade waste which means that the tax payer is picking up the cost of tradesmen pocketing the money their customers have paid them to dispose of the waste legally.
“Fly tipping is illegal. It is hazardous to the public and animals and costs the tax payer to get the mess cleaned up by the District Council.
The last figure I got from the District Council for fly tipping clean up costs in Wyre Forest was in excess of £30,000. Yet, the Council has not made a single prosecution.
Whereas I have been calling on residents to be vigilant and help catch the culprits by reporting any cases to me or online on Worcestershire County Council website all this seems in vain if the Council fails to prosecute”, says Gordon.
